Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival 2020: November
On Saturday 28th November at 6pm, the 2020 Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival unveils three sets of new music on YouTube and Facebook, celebrating its 22nd edition
Featuring the world premiere of a brand new sextet co-led by trumpeter Colin Steele and pianist Fergus McCreadie and also featuring saxophonists Konrad Wiszniewski and Norman Willmore, Islay stalwart Mario Caribé on bass and Stephen Henderson on drums. Their set is 30 minutes long and was recorded at The Traverse in September. Konrad Wiszniewskiplays a newly commissioned solo tune entitled “Islay Magic” at Dunyvaig Castle and Toby Mottershead delivers some early blues classics.
The Festival would usually be held over a weekend in September, with concerts taking place across the island in a range of bespoke venues such as distilleries, bird sanctuaries, hotels, village halls and the concerts would begin with a dram from our sponsor, Lagavulin. Now you can enjoy the Islay experience with inspirational and extraordinary music from the comfort of your own sofa where-ever you are in the world and thanks to Lagavulin, it’s all free.
Please save the day, sit back, charge your glass and listen to 50 minutes of first-class music
The Festival is promoted by Jazz Scotland and Islay Arts Association
